[ Loiosh, an orange tabby, is hunkered up on my desk, butt pointedly facing the camera. ]
Loiosh’s opinion of the world, which, tbh, matches mine. Continue reading butt

[ A red Milwaukee circular saw, sitting on a table along with a steel ruler, a green pen, & random boards. ]
Innit purty?
Also means I can DO things, so Wednesday I went outside & Did things. Continue reading new circular saw!
[ Snow caught in green pinyon needles. ]
I really gotta get me & the camera out more often when the snow is still fresh. Continue reading small beauties, snow edition
[ Major Tom, a big grey tabby, seen from behind, looking out the front door. There’s a lot of snow out there & he’s having Opinions about that; his tail is caught mid-lash. ]
I will freely admit that I was FAR more excited about the snow than the boys were. But Tom did, eventually, go outside. Continue reading snow day!
[ Major Tom, a big grey tabby, is standing on my bed, squinting up at the camera. Spread out on the bed in front of him is a pile of stuff — bags of beads, shells, stickers, a bag of cat treats, & more beads. ]
It was a good mail day, but I’m not sure Tom agrees.
But LOOK at all the Stuff I got! Presents from two different friends! Not even for my birthday, but just in time anyways. Continue reading loot, also: treasure
[ Loiosh, an orange tabby wearing a green harness, stands near the base of a pinyon pine. The sun shines through the branches, and a single ray of sunshine is visible, angling down from the upper right corner of the picture and across Loiosh’s face. ]
The colder it gets, the harder it is to get the boys out for the afternoon, so I’ve been taking them out for little wanders in the back yard more often. I’m also trying to remind Loiosh that me putting the harness on him means he gets to DO something, while trying to avoid having to chase him down to put it on, which has been happening too often lately. When he’s gotta go to the vet, he’s stuck with it, but other that that … I wanna balance getting him out of the house, which he needs, with giving him the agency to decide when he doesn’t want to, which he also needs.
He didn’t want to let me put the harness on him right away, today, so I went outside for a bit on my own (& happened to get good pictures of the new tins for the incense ingredients, yay!), but when I stuck my head back in the door after that, he was like ‘I would PREFER to go outside NAKED but if I have to wear that THING, well, I GUESS’. Continue reading a winter’s stroll
[ A view of the lake, sun shining on the wind-ruffled water; the far side of the lake, to the right, is iced over. To the left is the shore, mostly rocks with some low dry scrub. ]
Bluewater Lake is … it’s just gorgeous, y’all.
I mean. Continue reading small beauties, other side of the lake edition
[ A view up a rocky slope topped with evergreen trees. Major Tom is sitting to the right, facing away from the camera, & Loiosh is a small blotch emerging from behind a bush, right at the treeline, about a third of the way across the photo. ]
I didn’t get out of the house as early as I WISH I had on Wednesday — there being nothing I could do about it at the time, I would rather not have heard about the attempted coup in DC until later — but I did manage to avoid doomscrolling for a while, at least, & I’m glad I did it, cos that’s left me with the energy to do something about it now, that being to contact my reps & demand that they not let people GET AWAY WITH THIS, WHAT THE EFFING EFF.
ANYWAY. Cat pictures. They’re both in the pic at the top, promise! Continue reading lake day, but on the other side this time
[ A view up a tall, rocky hill that’s really pretty steep in places. It’s the same one I went partway up, with the boys, a couple months back. ]
(spoilers cos I know y’all worry: he’s fine)
Two days after Christmas, I decided, was gonna be the day we’d finally get to the top!
… except it didn’t happen that way. Continue reading this time, for sure!
[ Loiosh, an orange tabby wearing a green harness, is seen from behind, where he’s standing on a rock overlooking the highway. There’s a semi with a red cab going past. Loiosh’s tail is waving gently. ]
Loiosh: “Mom, when can we get on the road again?”
Me: *sobbing*
CAN’T COME SOON ENOUGH but in the meantime, at least I can take the boys wandering. Continue reading big rocks day, part the third
